Why do we care so much about "Local"?

The Simple Truth

Right now, we are a society of "unboxers." We buy things made in factories thousands of miles away. We send our money out, and we get back cheap shadows. We have become consumers instead of makers.

The Evidence

When we stop making our own things, we lose our skills. Our workshops close. Our neighborhoods get quieter. But when we buy from a local producer, someone who uses local wood, local leather, and local hands, that money stays here. It builds a business. It trains an apprentice.

Banan exists to "push back."

We want to help our local makers grow. We don't want more people who just buy; we want more people who build.
